LACONIA — As part of the Earth Day 2005
celebration, Laconia is participating in a
statewide backyard composting bin/rain barrel
sale.
Through May 7 a home compost bin and how-to
guild with a combined retail value of $80 can be
purchased for just $35. The bin is black, has a
10-year warranty and is made of 100 percent
recycled plastic. It is about 33 inches high and
33 inches wide, or large enough for a family of
five.
The 55-gallon rain barrel, terra cotta in color
to prevent light transmission/inhibit algae and
bacterial growth, is equipped with a brass spigot
to connect to your garden hose and is available
for $60.
Pick up an order form from Ann Saltmarsh at the
Laconia Public Works Department office at 27
Bisson Ave., Laconia. Checks or money orders
should be made payable to the City of Laconia. You
will be notified when to pick up your composter
sometime in early June.
