Bike Week, pay issue on council slate

By JOHN KOZIOL

Staff Writer

LACONIA — Expanding the pay range for 10 municipal, non-union positions tops the agenda for the City Council this evening.

Immediately prior to the council meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m., the Government Operations and Ordinances Committee will discuss ways of dealing with overcrowding at Weirs Beach during summer holidays; on waiving vendor fees; on permitting a kiosk on the municipal pier; and on accepting the report of the municipal Motorcycle Week Advisory Committee.

The committee will also review the terms previously offered by developer Rusty Bertholet for the city’s agreeing to give up rights to Interlaken Avenue.

Under new business, City Manager Eileen Cabanel will ask the council to designate six boat dealerships in the city as agents for the city in collecting boat fees and will also present her recommendations to change the city’s current wage and compensation plan.

Also under new business, the council will discuss adopting rules to regulate its activities, renaming a street, the Veterans Tax Credit, a potential Bike Week economic study, and tax assessments.

Members of the city’s Master Plan Steering Committee are expected to give the council an update on the process of creating a new Master Plan.

The council meets in Room 200A at City Hall.
