Mass. man badly hurt after being hit by vehicle on Route 104

MEREDITH — An 59-year old Massachusetts man was seriously injured Sunday evening when he was struck by a vehicle on Route 104 about a quarter-mile east of Bobby’s Girl Diner.

Sgt. Keith Tie of the Meredith Police said the man reportedly stopped his vehicle beside the road around 9:30 p.m. and was attempting to retrieve something that had flown out of the vehicle into the road.

He was struck by a 1996 Ford Explorer operated by a 50-year-old woman from Bristol whose name is not being released at this time.

The pedestrian was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital with serious injuries.

He was later transferred to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.

Police did not identify the man who was injured.

Meredith police were assisted by Center Harbor, Moultonborough and state police.
