MOULTONBORO — Fire completely destroyed a two-story
lakeside home on Friday night. Fire units from a
number of area communities were called in to fight the
blaze at 14 Hemlock Point Road. There were no injuries
reported.
According to Corporal Jim Fogarty of the
Moultonboro Police Department, Marion Roche arrived at
her home on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee at
approximately 9:20 p.m. to find the wood-frame
structure already ablaze.
A firefighter who lives on Hemlock Point Road was
the first to respond. When fire unit arrived the home
was completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters brought water in using tankers and
also floated pumps in the lake.
They attacked the blaze from a number of
directions. However, the fire consumed to entire
building, leaving just a portion of a single wall
standing.
While they were unable to save the home
firefighters were able to prevent the fire from
spreading to other structures.
Responding units included Moultonboro, Sandwich,
Center Harbor and Tuftonboro.
The fire was declared to be under control
approximately an hour after firefighters arrived on
the scene.
There was no immediate cause reported for the fire
which remains under investigation.
