Garage destroyed by fire in Moultonboro

BY BEA LEWIS

Northern Lakes Region Bureau

MOULTONBORO — A late night fire Monday destroyed a free-standing garage at a Bean Road home, but no injuries were reported.

Firefighters from Moultonboro, Sandwich, Holderness, Center Harbor and Meredith were called to the scene at 400 Bean Road just past the intersection with Wakondah Road shortly before midnight.

The garage was located at a home owned by Robert J. Soltis, that overlooks Wakondah Pond.

Authorities are still investigating what may have sparked the first-alarm blaze that consumed the structure, leaving behind just a pile of charred rubble.

The fire was reported at 11:55 p.m. and when firefighters arrived the building, which officials estimate was about 24 feet by 25 feet, was engulfed in flames.

Laconia provided coverage for the Center Harbor station and Tuftonboro covered Moultonboro.
