LACONIA — The public is invited to tell the
Motorcycle Week Advisory Committee what it thinks
about the annual rally.
The committee on Thursday voted to hold a public
hearing on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The
location is tentative pending confirmation of the
availability of the Council Chambers for the hearing.
At the hearing, members of the public will be given
five minutes to address any or all of the committee’s
charges related to Bike Week.
Last November, the City Council established the
committee to look objectively "at the event and its
impact on the city public relations and
infrastructure;" to determine whether it is "in the
city’s best interest" to assume responsibility for
Bike Week and also whether its nine-day duration
should be changed.
Additionally, the committee was charged with
finding ways of creating a better relationship with
businesses and finding alternative sources, other than
the city, county and state, to pay for the costs of
Bike Week.
