Benson trying employee incentives to become more efficient

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Gov. Craig Benson wants state workers to get up to $10,000 for making their agencies more efficient.

Benson asked the Legislature on Wednesday to create a Governor’s Incentive Award to encourage workers to pitch ideas to save money or improve efficiency in state government.

Once a proposal was enacted, auditors would figure out how much money the state saved in one year. The worker who suggested the idea would get 10 percent of that amount or $10,000, whichever is less.

Benson also is using his salary to pay for another program to reward innovative workers.
