Members of the Meredith Fire Department responded
to a 9-1-1 call for help shortly after 5:30 p.m. and
found a man trapped from the waist up beneath an out
building authorities estimated weighed about two tons.
Rescuers quickly reset the jack, and used wooden
blocking to stabilize the red shed, which was about 15
feet by 18 feet in size. Firefighters lifted the shed
with a jack and the man, identified as the property
owner’s brother, was able to roll out.
The accident occurred at property formerly owned by
James Nave on the access road leading to the newly
completed St. Charles Roman Catholic Church. The site
is just off Route 25 in the vicinity of the Center
Harbor town line.
The family has sold the property to the Diocese of
Manchester and was scheduled to have moved the shed by
Nov. 15. Their modular home has also been sold and
will be removed. The Naves are having a new home built
in another location.
Authorities identified the victim of the accident
as David Nave.
Stewart’s Ambulance took him to Lakes Region
General Hospital for treatment of a suspected hip
injury.
Meanwhile, in the wake of the accident, church
representatives have reportedly give the family
additional time to remove the shed located behind the
modular home.
Lakes Regional Mutual Fire Aid Dispatch identified
the address of the accident scene as #286 New
Hampshire Route 25.
